Camden Business Awards Plaques 2017

Posted by Sally Lees on

In 2017 Camden Council asked me once again to make the trophies for the Camden Business Awards.

I had illustrated previous Camden Business Awards with key Camden buildings. Buildings which the awards ceremonies were being held in, namely the newly refurbished St Pancras Renaissance Hotel in 2015 and the Rosewood Hotel in 2015.

2017's venue was to be the Royal College of General Practicioners building but given the wealth of beautiful and interesting buildings in the bourough of Camden drove us to decide to incorporate more than one building on this year's trophies.  There were a few buildings that were obvious choices like the thriving business area of Camden Market and and of course the iconic BT tower.

Because of the diversity of buildings it was decided that a drawing of the Camden skyline consisting of many of the most well known Camden buildings was the best way to go.

Various mock ups were drawn and the final trophies featured The Frances Crick Institute Building, the BT Tower, The Royal College of General Practicioners, Camden Market and Midland Mainline Hotel at St Pancras.

I was delighted when Camden council liked the illustration so much that they used it both on the cover of the Awards Ceremony booklet and as a backdrop for the ceremony which was really exciting!

Well done to all of the 2017 winners!
