  Looking back to 2015  Making the Camden Cuncil Business Awards Looking back in time to a very busy year - 2015. Just before I made the collection of women's suffrage jewellery to accompany Mary Branson's 'New Dawn' light sculpture I was asked once again to make the Business Awards plaques for Camden Council. The Houses of Parliament 'New Dawn' Jewellery Collection - Making the 'New Dawn' Brooch

I did so many sketches with lots of ideas about quite diverse pieces of jewellery that captured the esscense of the 'New Dawn' artwork. The highly polished surface of the aluminium really suited the job as it can be dyed a variety of vibrant colours.

The Houses of Parliament 'New Dawn' jewellery collection - Pin

The pin was a simple jewellery item to design but presented a few issues in regards to construction. The silver wires had to be attached to the aluminium without soldering as aluminium cannot be soldered to silver so they were inserted through a drilled hole in the centre of the disk.
