The Houses of Parliament 'New Dawn' Jewellery Collection Commission 2016
Sally Lees has been commissioned to create a collection of jewellery to accompany Mary Branson’s ‘New Dawn’ light art installation commemorating women’s suffrage which was installed in Westminster Hall on June 7th 2016.
The collection consists of hand crafted jewellery inspired by ‘New Dawn’. The jewellery is contemporary in essence designed to give visitors the opportunity to take away with them a wearable reminder of the artwork. Like the artwork the jewellery has also been created using both traditional and modern materials and craft making techniques.
The jewellery is entirely hand-made in Sally’s London studio at Cockpit Arts in Deptford near Greenwich and the nature and method of construction makes each item in the collection unique.
Sally has written a blog about the inspiration and conception of the 'New Dawn' collection. Watch this space for her blogs about designing and making the collection!
The ‘New Dawn’ jewellery collection can be purchased from online: and www.sallylees.com and will be available to buy at the Vote 100 exhibition opening in the Houses of Commons in June 2018.
