'New Dawn' - Suffragette Purple Pin
Gift a piece of British history
Celebrate the Suffragettes with this beautiful pin handcrafted in London
The imagery on this pin is inspired by the Parliamentary scrolls on which the Representation of the People Act is written upon and is from the 'New Dawn' jewellery collection commissioned by The Houses of Parliament in 2016 & 2018. The design is resist printed onto anodised aluminum by hand then dyed a vibrant purple. The alumnium is polished to give it a shiny surface prior to printing and is completely colourfast.
This pin is the perfect gift for a history hungry feminist. Purple is one of the colours associated with the most recognised suffragette - Emmilene Pankhurst. Also widely recognised as a feminist colour, purple signified loyalty and dignity to the suffragettes and featured, alongside white and green, on all of their organisation's banners whilst they campaigned for emancipation.
