About Sally Lees (London)

Sally has always had a passion for making beautiful things. She began her business in 1998 after learning how to make jewellery from titanium and silver on an adult education course after completing a degree in Art and Design in 1993 with a BA(Hons).

After being selected to move her studio at Cockpit Arts Bloomsbury in 2000 she incorporated anodised aluminium into her work which she printed with her exquisite floral and abstract designs and dyed a multitude of colours.

She was well know for her cufflinks in the early to mid 2000's and was featured in many publications during this time.

Sally has shown her work at so many shows it would take ages to list them! Now she concentrates on the open studios shows at Cockpit Arts, internet sales and commission work.

After the pandemic Sally decided to add to her skills by applying for a developing Professional Practice grant from the Arts Council to create a collection of work using vitreous enamells. She used this grant to learn techniques from Jane Short and Jessica Turrell and buy enamelling equipment and powders.
Her ethos is to hand make her products not manufacture them.

Sally is a member of the British Society of Enamellers,The Association for Contemporary Jewellery and The Crafts Council Directory where her jewellery is featured. She is also a member of the Guild of Eamellers.

Sally has appeared on the BBC's Learning Zone and has taught jewellery making at Cockpit Arts, Designercourses, Greenwich Community College, CityLit, The Mary Ward Centre and London Metropolitan University.
Her cufflinks are featured in the jewellery making books: 'Anodized! Brilliant Colours and Bold Designs in Aluminium' by Clare Stiles and 'Coloured Aluminium Jewellery: Design and Make' by Lindsey Mann.
"I hope you love the jewellery as much as I loved making it!"
