Floral cufflinks Tools and aluminium sheet

The Creative Process

At Sally Lees (London) every piece of jewellery is hand made. Inspiration for the floral collections comes from English country garden flowers and the collections with abstract patterns are influenced by the materials and drawing tools themselves.

Sally draws and paints onto pre anodised and polished aluminium sheets then dyes it using specialist aluminium dyes from Switzerland.

Some pieces are patterned with prints of original line drawings of flowers then dyed vibrant colours. The designs are coupled with satinised silver and riveted together using silver wire.

In subsequent collections the flower drawings are photo-etched onto silver and then styled into cufflinks, earrings, pendants, bangles and rings. Gold is occassionally laid into the linear drawings providing an exquisite contrast with the silver.

Commissions are worked upon very closely with the customer to produce exquisite jewellery tailored to the customers needs. This can be done face to face or via email and phone. Sophisticated Roses patterned cufflinks for a wedding party were recently commissioned in vibrant magenta.
